World famous proverbs

In English, the stock of proverbs is very large, covering the whole field of human activity. Experiences about social, political and domestic affairs, about agriculture, trade, morality and religion are all enshrined in these proverbs and stock-sayings. Although in standard literary writing they are very specially used; in conversational English they abound profusely and their use gives color, force and vividness to our speech. It is always interesting to study the story or image which is hidden behind a proverb and amplify it in our own words.
