Nye religious cultural and historical atlas of Bhutan

This Nye Atlas is based on the cherished history, unique, vibrant and time-tested culture, sacred heritage sites and mysterious spiritual landscapes of Bhutan. It is first attempt by the National Land Commission to create a full overview of all heritage sites of Bhutan all based on locational information. The specific nature and value of Nye warrants preservation and promotion of these sacred landscapes and heritage sites to relish and sustain for all times to come.

The first part of this book gives a general overview of the distribution of monuments such as Dzongs, Lhakhangs, Choetens, heritage sites and ruins. The second part contains Dzongkhag-wise chapters along with brief profiles and descriptions of the important spiritual sites in the respective Dzongkhags. It also includes Dzongkhag maps with distribution of sites, large scale location maps and photographs.

At of the end of each of the Dzongkhag chapters, descriptions of the major existing festivals are included, along with a diagrammatic Lunar Festival Calendar. Since this is the first edition, the coverage of sites may not be complete.
