Media and public culture: proceedings of the second international seminar on Bhutan studies
This book is a compilation of the papers presented at the Second International Seminar on Bhutan Studies on a theme: Media and Public Culture in Bhutan held from 26 to 28 June 2006 in Thimphu, Bhutan. 27 scholars from various parts of the world participated in the seminar. The papers covered a wide range of issues related to media and public culture themes such as history, religion, culture, polity, economy, language, education, ICT, audio-visual industry and sustainable development. One paper was in Dzongkha and that is published in original. However, not all papers presented in the seminar could be included in this publication.
The Centre would like to thank all the participants and authors.
We would like to express our special thanks to the Sustainable Development Secretariat and the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT/NIPS), The Netherlands, for funding of the seminar as well as the publication of its proceedings. We are appreciative of support of SDS staff in particular its director Nim Dorji.
