Event management: a booming industry and an eventful career

The event planning and management industry has an extremely positive future. In addition to the usual corporate meetings, trade shows, and conferences, the event planning industry has also gotten involve in the advertising and branding efforts of their clients. Event planners, who can identify their clients’ branding strategies and can bring their expertise of running the logistic of live event, have a very popular future.

Event Industry is yet in premature stage in India and it has lots of potential in it and job market is still to be explored fully. But, of late, event management has emerged as the fastest growing industry in India. Simultaneously, event management has turned out to be blossoming and meaningful career for professionals.

Devesh Kishore is presently Dean, School of Journalism” and Mass Communication, Institute of Management Studies, Noida, involved in developing teaching and research programmes at graduate and postgraduate levels.

Devesh Kishore was Director and Professor in the Communication Division, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Before joining IGNOU in 1992, he was Professor and Head, Educational Technology at the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad. He was Professor: the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, from 1972 to 1977.

He was awarded UNDP Fellowship for specialized training in Human Resource Development, Communication and Education Technology in 1987-88 at the University of Syracuse, New York; University of Arizona, Tuscon; Cornell University, Ithaca; Ohio State University, Columbus and University of California. Ganga Sagar Singh obtained his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Law from Bihar University. He obtained his Post-Graduate in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. He worked as Public Relations Executive at various levels including as Chief (Corporate Communication) in Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Ltd.
